🌦️ Tsuyu (Rainy Season) Has Begun — Kanto Region

JMA Official Announcement: June 10, 2026

The Japan Meteorological Agency has officially declared the start of the rainy season (梅雨 / tsuyu) for the Kanto region. Expect daily rain showers, high humidity (80-95%), and occasional heavy downpours through mid-July.
☔ Tips for travelers during tsuyu
Pack a compact umbrella (or buy a ¥500 clear vinyl one at any konbini). Waterproof your shoes. Plan indoor activities as backup (museums, department stores, arcades). Hydrangea season is beautiful in the rain — visit Meigetsuin in Kamakura!
